Europa universalis 4 muscovy walkthrough12/31/2023 If the kingdom can be united by a strong ruler, and the Reconquista completed, Castile will have a fearsome military force in its hands with a long tradition of fighting for the expansion of the Christian faith. Factions acting entirely out of their own interests have not shied away from supporting foreign pretenders from Portugal and Aragon in the past. The Castilian Nobles and the local Cortes of the various constituent kingdoms still hold a large degree of power and many Trastámara kings have found themselves at the mercy of the estates of their kingdoms. Surrounded on all sides by Castilian castles it seems to be a matter of time before the Reconquista is brought to its logical conclusion and the kingdom is annexed.įor now however Castile has problems of its own. What remains of the Moorish presence in Iberia is now restricted to the southern kingdom of Granada, still a rich Muslim sultanate in many ways but also marred by infighting and the frequent border skirmishes with Christian raiders. I formed Russia using Muscovy a while ago (went from strong to a damn beast) and didn't have any change in government, but I don't know if it was because they use the same or because the decision makes it mandatory as Russia.Shaped in the battles of the Reconquista, the Crown of Castile is in fact not just one kingdom but a union of the kingdoms of Castile, León, Toledo, Galicia, Murcia, Jaén, Córdoba and Seville under the Castilian branch of the Trastámara dynasty. It is easier to decide the firsts steps without messing things up, or at least not too much if you are still not good.Ībout Novgorod, I'm sorry but I haven't played with them, so I can't help about the decisions and the government. Neither is a problem to spend a good time taken a very close look at your own country at the start, as the neighbouring ones, the close ones for potential alliances, the culture groups of your zone, mission tree, decisions, etc. Sh.it happens sometimes, especially when RNG is involved. Your situation and the one of your surroundings must be the way to make decisions.Ī part from that, there is no shame on having to restart a game. So those videos to get a general idea so you can figure early things while playing: Good. I don't think trying to follow them is good regardless of the creator (there are some very good players on youtube, and no, I don't consider Ludi one of them, Zwelik or Quarbit -probably wrong written- are better, to name a couple) because after the first year, which tends to be pretty similar, things change and more time means more changes and due to the player intervention even more. I'm a meh player myself, but at this point I have learnt that if you have a good ally, or several smaller, the AI is going to wait to declare on you, mostly when you are in a weak moment (exceptions exist, by the way). But I do have a lot of extra governing capacity to last me. Not used to reading the fine print on these merchant reforms and their thorny little side effects. They should maybe make that clear in the description? I can still change to monarchy when I form Russia later, right? I didn't realize the Veche reform keeps me at Duchy. A couple years later Poland rivaled them, and suddenly we were allies and I was attacking and beating the crap out of Moscow! Made mistakes though, forgot to take the Perm mission land and somehow Kazan vassalized them in a weird war with Muscovy, gobbled a lot of decent Southeast Muscovy land while I was blitzing Denmark, and with Uzbek and non-Otto decision Crimea allies is gonna be a tough nut until their horde luster fades.īut I guess taking the Doge-centered reform ended all elections? That's lame. I hate games where I start by going like 6 loans into debt.īut no, even though I just allied Scotland and Ryazan and some other weak nothing, Muscovy never attacked. I almost didn't try it because the Ludi guide made it sound really annoying.
